Deep, dark, chocolate-y frozen hot chocolateserved up in a gigantic bowl with a pile of whipped cream and chocolate shavings on top. Just like the famous frozen hot chocolateat Serendipity in NYC!
It’s Wednesday!!! We’re halfway through the week ????????! #wednesdaygoals
Normally, I don’t mind kicking my husband and daughter out of the house every Monday morning for a long 5-day work and school week. I like being able to get things “done” (as if that everreally happens, though, right?) during the day, and to put things away just so and know they’ll stay that way for at least a few hours (as long as said things are out of toddler reach ????). I relish in a quiet house during naptime, and then I enjoy the rush of having everyone come home and be together in the evening.
But I’m always kind of sad that I have to send my husband back to work (not so much for the 6-year-old; with her, I’m alwayslikesee ya✌????). Which means I’ve already texted him like 8 thousand times asking if he’son his way home yet ????.
Maybe I’m especially missing him because I happen to have the perfect dessert for two to share with you today!
My husband and I have been to Serendipity a handful of times just because I love the frozen hot chocolate so much! My favorite location is in Georgetown in DC. It’s such a beautiful section of town. I think I could drive up and down the streets looking at the ornate townhomes and sweet little sidewalks forever.
Also…there’s a Sprinkles down the street, and I always need a cupcake after my frozen hot chocolate????.
Annnnnnnnnyway. ????
Serendipity’s famous frozen hot chocolate is super duper easy to replicate at home! So if you can’t hit one of the big cities to try it at the restaurant (or you just don’t want to pay that crazy menu price!), no worries– you can make the exact same thing in your own kitchen.
All you’ll need is some really good chocolate, a saucepan, and a blender.
This would be perfect for a sweet Valentine’s day dessert for two at home! ❤️
Or… you know… for a Wednesday second breakfast. Whatever. ????Enjoy!

Can I use a different type of chocolate?
You can, but the results may not be as good. I really recommend using a high-quality chocolate for this recipe.
What if I don’t have hot chocolate mix?
You can either make your own mix by combining equal parts cocoa powder and sugar, or you can use another type of flavoring such as peppermint extract.
What can I do if I don’t have a large sundae glass?
You can either use a smaller glass or just pour it into a bowl. It will be harder to layer the whipped cream and chocolate shavings on top, but it will still taste great!
