Request: can you make an updated "dashboard" video if you've been working on new ones. Love how you walk us through your set-ups.

I love the voice over. Feature has been cut. First one actually made me jump. But, thought was excellent.

I’ve been asking for [super cool feature] for years!
@EverythingSmartHome 2 дні тому
Same!! It's been a long time coming
@leonkernan 2 дні тому
I’m glad they feel they can push back things that aren’t 100% rather than try to force them though and deal with issues for a month or two.
@darknessblades 2 дні тому
One feature I would like to have is to have HA ignore certificate errors for "local ONLY connections" this way managing dashboards/wallpanels will be a lot easier for users who also like to have remote access. Tried setting it up trough multiple ways, but none of them worked. Would love a updated guide on how to setup duck-DNS/remote access, and have "secure local access". since most ones are over 3+ years old. and many things have changed now.

Though my update hasn't pushed yet, super-excited for the Automation organization improvement; especially since I was one of the people requesting drop-down groups!

Nice, one. My favourite feature would have been the one that isn't in any more :( You forget to edit your intro where you mention the _security improvement_, sorry I mean the super cool feature that got cut from this release. But don't worry, I'm sure it will be in the next release along with some "also cool but not as cool features".

This update broke my matter integration and my aqara devices 😢 - had to roll back to 2024.4 to get it back. Hope this gets fixed soon.

My matter integration was fine, I didn't really see any big changes for matter in this release

Is there any way at all to have custom group names for automations?
@EverythingSmartHome 2 дні тому
I'm not sure what you mean here sorry?
@youplaymenot 2 дні тому
@@EverythingSmartHome Right now for my automation's I just have a big list... I actually answered my own question while typing back. I didn't know categories was basically the way to organize automations! I was thinking it was more of a type of folder situation.
@dylan_00 2 дні тому
What was the feature that got cut? Now I'm dying to know lol Very excited about the map feature for the Roborock integration, hopefully we can summon the robots to specific rooms without having to go through the hassle of mapping room IDs to various other numbers!

It's one called Strict Connections, hopefully it returns next release!

I still find the lock color scheme backwards... I think locked should be red and unlocked should be green.
@EverythingSmartHome 2 дні тому
I suppose you could do it with a theme perhaps? To me, the way it is right now is correct but suppose it's personal preference
@beepboopbeepboop190 2 дні тому
I think generally people see green as "secure" and red as "not secure" which is why the lock colors are set that way. I know if I see something red I'm assuming it's a problem or something I need to look at while green means everything is fine.
@TheSlimHim 2 дні тому
I understand the logic behind good = green = secure but when I think of locks in the real world, red always means locked and green always means unlocked. If I walked up to a door with a light indicator and it was red, I'd think the door was locked.
@beepboopbeepboop190 2 дні тому
@@TheSlimHim Funny how that works. If I walked up to a door and something was red next to it, I'd also assume it's locked. But if I'm looking at that same door as a sensor or something in software I would assume it's unlocked. Same door, same color, but where I see it apparently matters in my head. Totally get where you're coming from.

2023 - Year of the voice was a complete bust. Would like to see Nabu Casa finally finish what they started. A completely (and I do mean completely) refined voice assistant WITH easy to install, off the shelf hardware to accompany it that actually rivals Google/Amazon devices. It's May of 2024 now and I could care less about anything else at this point. I want to get rid of all my Google speakers ASAP! And yes, I have seen all the poor DIY solutions including the latest ESP32 versions. But they are not at all easy to install and don't even come close to the level of refinement of Google/Amazon voice assistants and their hardware. Nabu Casa is missing a massively huge growth opportunity here by allowing this milestone to linger.
@EverythingSmartHome 2 дні тому
These things take time and they are still very much actively working on it :)
@restotool 2 дні тому
@@EverythingSmartHome Understood, however their focus has shifted greatly. Their main push is not to provide a completely refined voice assistant with hardware to match right now. From what I have read and heard, not sure that was ever the case. My frustration level with Nabu Casa is getting high as this aspect of home automation is very important. Not every action can be executed appropriately with an automation. This should have been a focus long ago. Google/Amazon understood this extremely early in their development of home automation products/services. As a program/project manager, its easy to see that Nabu Casa lacks direction and foresight. If they had made better decisions along the way, their growth potential could have been exponentially higher. Right now I think they are still at less than 50 employes which is abysmal for a tech company relative to the length of term they have been in operation. Say what you will, but business acumen is most certainly not their strong suit.
@withanHdammit 2 дні тому
@@restotool well yeah, they're developers not program managers.
@restotool 2 дні тому
@@withanHdammit No excuse in this day and age.
@rampwuff День тому
@@restotool I don't think it's about lack of direction, it's about priorities. Not everyone uses voice / chat assistants for their smart home. For example - I hate using them. I vastly prefer automations / buttons / a UX friendly app over using any form of assistant to manage my home. They're slow, they're unreliable and they require you to constantly talk / type. So for me personally, 2023 was kind of a waste of a year for HA because the things I found important (better way to manage dashboards and better organization for automations) were barely worked on if at all. 2024 so far has brought many changes I have wanted for years and I could not be happier with them focussing more on these types of things this year. And I'm sure I'm not the only one.
