Cartoon Network ULTIMATE (2)

Cartoon Network Ultimate, or sometimes abbreviated to CNU, is a platform fighting game made by Dipped Chips Studios. This game takes inspiration from the Super Smash Bros. series and the Multiverses game and merges aspects of both into this game.

This game is inspired by the YouTube Animation Cartoon Network Melee by LatteToons and Battle for Smash Ultimate by Data McSponge, in which this game is built off of. This game has the aspects of Smash 64, Melee, Brawl, Smash for the 3DS and Wii U, and Ultimate along with its general gameplay style it inhabits. However it is more so inspired by the likes of Smash 4, with some of the readded modes, the re-addition of custom moves, and the addition of PvE in the adventure modes. Even then, it has the adventure exploration gameplay as Ultimate's World of Light and the story telling as Brawl's Subspace Emissary.

(HELP WANTED: Though everything is written down in lists I would like some ideas for some movesets of the characters and what the items, assist trophies, foster summons, bosses, and enemies would do. This is because of two reasons: One: I'm incredibly lazy with that sort of stuff and Two: I'm not a research buff. If any of you people want to contribute to this page, give some ideas, or make it stand out, don't be afraid to contribute to this page! I may or may not use some of your ideas for the stuff I need I probably need for this page. Of course, obviously, NO VANDALIZING.)

Gameplay[]

Since Cartoon Network Ultimate is based off of the Smash Bros. series, its gameplay style is heavily based on the genre. Unlike most other fighting games where you have to fight one on one to deplete the opponent's health bar, CNU uses percentages to measure health and how far the fighters will be launched. The goal of the game is to KO your opponents by launching them into a Blast Zone offscreen of the stage. Fighters are only truly KO'd when they run out of stock or stamina. Time based modes have the fighters gain enough points by KOing fighters in the eloped time limit given. Most of the knockback and damaging techniques are similar to that of Ultimate and Smash 4.

As mentioned before, Custom Moves have been readded into this game from Smash 4. Like Smash 4, Custom moves are not available at the start of the game, but can be unlocked shortly after some challenges have been completed. Custom moves are mostly found in Smash World or the adventure modes where they are more common to find. Custom moves can either be new moves or a variation of vanilla moves.

Spirits make a return as well, being found in events, the Spirit Boards, Spirit Rush, Smash World, and the adventure modes as one of the many contributing to their stories. Spirits act the same as Ultimate, they provide some type of boost that aid the fighters in battle.

Fighters[]

Cartoon Network Ultimate has a roster of 85 characters, with 12 being DLC characters and 73 being base characters. Each character has their own unique move set and all the while their own unique Final Smashes. These characters all originate from their own broadcasting channel, Cartoon Network, with the only third party ones being Disney XD, MAX, and Crunchyroll. The base fighters can be simply be unlocked by simply playing Smash or Classic Mode enough times, or they can be unlocked through the World of Light mode.

Game Modes[]

Adventure Based:[]

World of Light[]

This adventure mode is ripped from Smash Bros. Ultimate but with some added features. It now has aspects of other Smash Bros. gamemodes (now implemented in this game too) in this adventure mode for unlocking certain paths and spirits. (This applies for the Spirit Board as well). Some fights do not have a spirit or challenger fight but instead a wave of enemies you have to fight. The enemies you fight get harder the more you progress this mode or if it's based on a hard spirit. Some spirit accomplishments somewhat stay the same as Ultimate but for other spirits there is a special task that does not involve the generic Smash Bros. gameplay. Some spirits have basis of Smash Run, Target Blast, Home-Run Contest, Multi-Man Smash, Spirit Rush, Board the Platforms, and along with some exclusive ones such as Survival, Protection, Climb, Run, and Shooters. Some others such as Crystal Smash and Target Smash from Smash Run also come here. The boards of Smash Tour come too but as part of a stage to progress the story. (Much like the towers in the incursions of Mortal Kombat 1) The story basis is much more animated, giving away more cutscenes and choices, much like Subspace Emissary. There are a total of 11 boss fights (not counting Master and Crazy Hands) in this mode instead of 9.

Story-wise, the plot is barely the same. The story had to be altered mostly to fit the game's aesthetic, for example, instead of Kirby surviving it's Unikitty. However, with the addition of enemies, Galeem's plan alters. Galeem takes both the fighters and enemies and turned the spectators into spirits. Some aspects of Subspace Emissary are also present, such as the caged choice and the misunderstanding scene.

The bosses that are fought (and can be refought in the Classic Mode) are:

Light World:[]
  • HIM (The Powerpuff Girls)
  • Giga Mojo Dojo (Exclusive)
  • Galleom (Smash Bros./Exclusive)
  • Duon (Smash Bros./Exclusive)
  • Galeem (Exclusive)
Dark World:[]
  • Frost King (Exclusive)
  • Mr. Frown (Unikitty)
  • Morbidia (Mighty Magiswords)
  • Shadow (Sonic Boom)
  • Dharkon (Exclusive)
Final World:[]
  • Galeem and Dharkon (Exclusive)

The Creation of Time[]

This adventure mode is DLC-exclusive and is unlocked after completing World of Light. This is much like World of Light but with DLC spirits instead of base spirits, and any other spirits that weren't encountered initially in World of Light appear here.

After the defeat of Galeem and Dharkon and with the spirits twirling back into their universes, a slight disturbance in the peace has been made. The dark princess, Tasaa, has been awakened after lord knows how long and turns the recently reawakened world back to ruin. Destroying any sign of peace and merging other universes with its own, along with bringing back the fallen foes and bosses from World of Light into stronger beasts. The DLC challengers were stripped of their control and has been replaced by Tasaa's. The fighters put on their battle faces and sought off to put Tasaa in her place. One thing though is that she may be hiding more from us than what we know. This is known during the final battle against her, where she tries to reactivate her power through her gem but fails, absorbing her in the process. The gem then crystalizes and creates a strong warrior, one not from any world. After defeating him, the warrior went through a portal that was created from a external power and ends up in a new universe. After that is said and done, the world reverts back to its original self once more and peace was present yet again.

The bosses that can be fought here (That can be refought in Boss Rush mode soon) are:

  • HIM Reborn (The Powerpuff Girls)
  • Giga Mojo Dojo Reborn (Exclusive)
  • Galleom Reborn (Smash Bros./Exclusive)
  • Duon Reborn (Smash Bros./Exclusive)
  • Frost King Reborn (Exclusive)
  • Mr. Frown Reborn (Unikitty)
  • Morbidia Reborn (Mighty Magiswords)
  • Shadow Reborn (Sonic Boom)
  • Tasaa (Exclusive)
  • Galacta Knight (Exclusive) (fought after defeating Tasaa)

Classic Mode[]

Classic Mode returns from the Smash series. Similar to Ultimate, players can set the difficulty from 0.0 (Effortless) to 5.0 (Heating Up!). This game's Classic Mode is much like the classic mode in Ultimate. Every fighter each has their own classic mode route with fixed opponents, stages, conditions, and the bosses they face. The difficulty also increases much like Ultimate as well. Most of the Classic Mode Route bosses are Master Hand (and Crazy Hand after 4.0 Intensity) which are followed by Galeem and Dharkon at 9.9 difficulty. Clearing Classic Mode can reward the player with a mural after the credits featuring their chosen fighter. The mural can be seen in the Murals tab in Vault.

The list of bosses that are fought in Classic Mode are:

Master and Crazy Hand (Galeem and Dharkon at 9.9 Intensity)(Mostly half of the fighters)

Galleom (Quarter of the rest of the fighters)

Duon (The other quarter of fighters)

Specialized Fighters (Some other fighters)

HIM (Mojo Dojo, Black Hat)

Giga Mojo Dojo (Powerpuff Girls, Black Hat)

Shadow (Sonic, Black Hat)

Morbidia (Prohyas, Vambre, Black Hat)

Frost King (Jake, Finn, Princess Bubblegum, Fionna, Marceline, Black Hat)

Dark Pino (2 Phases) (Shiki)

Smash Run and Smash Tour are separated incase players like the other one more. Smash World Gameplay[]

Smash World combines aspects of both Smash Run and Tour into one along with some aspects of its own. In Smash World, the player has to clear 5 different boards (which are randomized) to reach their final battle (also randomized). Along the way, through boards or overworlds, the player will gain stat boosts of Speed, Jump, Attack, Special, Arms, Defense, and All by defeating enemies, landing on a special place on a board, or completing a minigame. Minigames typically include: Crystal Smash, Target Smash, Defeat Them All!, and Survive, with difficulties of Easy, Normal, Hard, and Expert. Stage hazards on the boards will take away any stat boosts you've collected so far. Enemies in the overworld will drop randomized stat boosts or will sometimes drop one given the events that drop in the overworld. Events in the overworld include maxing 2 of the player's stats, spawning a surplus of a single enemy, or warping the player in a different location. Like Smash Run in Smash 3DS, the player will have access to powers that can help them in the overworld, they are separated into different categories:

  • Red: A powerful force that can damage enemies. (These include: Power Bomb, Heavenly Light, Spinning Blades, Meteor Shower, Shocking Taunt, and Horizon Beam)
  • Orange: Increases a player's attack conduit. (These include: Strong Punch, Strong Kick, Strong Head, Strong Body, and Strong Throw)
  • Yellow: Passive elements that can increase your damage (These include: Devil's Pact, Homing Enemy, Smash Extend, Payback, and Rage)
  • Green: Anything that involves movement or travel (These include: Shinespark, Warp, Instant Drop, Extra Jump, and High Jump)
  • Cyan: Stuff that heals the player (These include: Health Recovery, Auto Recovery, Healing Shield, and Healing Blows)
  • Aqua: Stuff that protects the player (These include: Brief Invincibility, Evershield, Reflector, and Super Armor)
  • Purple: Randomizers (These include: Shuffle and Random)
  • Gray: Grants a item to help you in battle (These include: Anything in the Gear, Hitting, Shooting, and Throwing item classes)

  • Miss Endive (Create Statue): This minigame is similar to the Scultpure minigame in the WarioWare stage from the Smash series. The player has to hit the stone hard enough for it to resemble a stone carving of Miss Endive.
  • Rob (Drive!): This is a racing minigame similar to Sonic Dash. The player has to reach the end with 3 lives in stock, avoiding obstacles along the way.
  • Dave the Intern (Cook!): This minigame is similar to the Café minigame in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. The player has to serve burgers to customers until the time limit ends. The player gets rewards based on how well they did.

Stadium[]

The Stadium hosts many different minigames that the players can play if they get bored of Regular Smash Bros. or to harness their skills. Each mode can be played in Multiplayer with 2 players. The modes avaliable are:

  • Target Blast: A mode returning from Smash 4, the player has to damage the bomb multiple times to launch it into the targets to gain points. The player has two rounds and after those two rounds the game is over.
  • Board the Platforms: A game returning from Smash 64, this mode is fairly simple. The player must board every yellow platform within the time limit to win. Each fighter has a different layout for this minigame.
  • Home Run Contest: A Smash series original, the player has to hit Mr. Sandbag hard enough to accrue enough damage and then launch him with the Home Run Bat. The more damage Mr. Sandbag has accrued, the farther he will go.
  • Multi-Man Smash: Another Smash series original, players have to fight against various opponents endlessly until they get sidelined. The modes avaliable are:
    • Polygon Smash: Since Miis are not present in this game, polygons take their place in Century Smash.
    • All Star Smash: Returning from Smash Ultimate, All Star Smash consists of Fighters from the roster attacking the player. Fighters are organized to when their cartoons were released.
    • Lackey Smash: A new variation of Multi Man Smash, Lackey Smash consists of enemies from Smash World attacking the player. Order of enemies is completely randomized but the difficulty and toughness of said enemies start to increase overtime.

Boss Rush[]

Boss Rush is a mode returning from Brawl but with aspects of The Ultimate Choice from Star Allies. It is unlocked through DLC with Shiki's Fighter Pack and is unlocked after beating World of Light. At its first unlock after beating World of Light, players can beat bosses from said mode depending on the difficulty chosen. Like in Classic Mode, the player can set it to 0.0 (Effortless) to 5.0 (Heating Up!). The difficulty chosen chooses the number of bosses fought. Polygon Fighter squads and Enemy squads serve as cooldown fights after certain battles. Master Hand and Crazy Hand will always be the final boss of each difficulty. After beating Creation of Time and every Classic Mode Route, the player can be able to increase the difficulty up to 0.0 (Effortless) to 9.9 (Nothing Harder!) where they will fight bosses from Creation of Time as well some extra bosses. Master Core reappears in this mode as the true final boss for 5.1 to 9.9, Master Fortress is fought at 9.9.

    • In K.O's variant, it features characters such as K.O, Enid, Radicles, Boxman, and Dendy. It's more like the Palutena Guidance in original Smash, as well as Zelda Universe's Palutena Guidance (as well as Hades Guidance). K.O's variant is expanded across assist trophies, but said easter egg has to be activated through vault.
    • In Shiki's variant, it seems to be a mix of Snake's and Palutena's guidances. It features the main cast and crew of the Edens Zero with assist trophies such as Pino and Ivry getting the spotlight. They make small cameos in K.O's guidance about Shiki and vice versa. They do not do guidances on Assist Trophies but do appear in the K.O. guidance of E.M. Pino
  • The character roster number seems to be almost equivalent to Smash Ultimate's roster.
  • This was created in inspiration of Super Smash Bros. Charged, The LatteToons Cartoon Network Melee animation, polysided's Battle for Smash Ultimate animations, and the Smash Bros. comics made by Wooden Plank Studios.
