Anyone with nitrous oxide in their blood and a gas tank for a brain knows the Demon 170 was a hellacious send-off for the Dodge Challenger, showing up for duty with 1,025 horsepower and 945 lb-ft of torque when fed a steady diet of the proper fuel. Taking this trim to the next level was a special Jailbreak program, offered to only 40 buyers of the Demon 170, that allowed customers to mix-‘n’-match paint hues and seat upholstery to their heart’s content. Would sir like his Challenger in orange with red brake calipers and brown seats? Right this way.

2023 Dodge Challenger Demon 170 shows up in Panther Pink Back to video

One gearhead afforded the opportunity chose to reach into the Mopar history books and haul out the paint codes for FM3 “Panther Pink” — or at least a very close approximation. Costing an extra $30,000 above and beyond the car itself and any other options, this outrageous shade takes everything about the Demon 170 and cranks it to off-the-chart look-at-me levels, as if any Challenger making better than a thousand supercharged horses needed any more attention.

According to anoraks, the original Panther Pink was only offered in 1970 and maybe early 1971, depending on who you ask. We’re sure a Mopar expert in our audience can chime in in the comments below to set the record straight. The colour, branded “Moulin Rouge” on the Plymouth side of the dealership, was available during that era on a host of models including the Belvedere and Valiant. Groovy, baby.

The video above is from a YouTuber named RacerX who has a proclivity for this kind of stuff. Posted about two weeks ago, he describes the car as being delivered out of the Courtesy Dodge dealership in Tampa, Florida. Out of the 3,300 total Demon 170s, only those 40 which were part of the Jailbreak program could have chosen a paint option like this, with buyers asked to rank their top three choices upon placing their order and Ma Mopar herself doling out the spoils.

With this in mind, it’s fair to call this a one-of-one car — and not just in the typical Boomer Bluster way, in which their bog-standard C4 Corvette is a one-off because it was the only one assembled by Bill from Kentucky on a Wednesday whilst he had his shirt on backwards. RacerX doesn’t mention who the actual owner is, other than to say it is a male. This author will note Hulk Hogan lives in the Tampa area, and this would fit his persona very well.
